The Problem

You mastered the craft.
But is your business
actually making you money?

Revenue is not the same as profit, and profit is not the same as cash flow. Most tattoo artists are bringing in good money — but without reliable books, you're flying blind. You can't make smart decisions about pricing, hiring, expanding, or even paying yourself if you don't actually know your numbers. Your bookkeeping is the lifeblood of your business, and every financial decision you make lives or dies on its accuracy. Generic accountants don't get that — they show up once a year, file a return, and disappear.

Inconsistent Cash Flow

Revenue comes in waves but expenses don't. Without visibility, you're always guessing.

Messy Books

Personal and business spending blurred together. No clear picture of where the money goes.

Tax Surprises

Underpaying estimates, missing deductions, and scrambling every April. It doesn't have to be this way.

Contractor Confusion

1099s, booth renters, employees — the classification mess creates real liability.

No Real Visibility

You know you're making money, but you can't tell if you're actually profitable.

Wrong Entity Setup

Operating as a sole prop when an S-Corp could save you thousands. Structure matters.

What We Do

Your books drive everything.
Every decision starts here.

Without reliable books, you can't make real business decisions. You can't price correctly, you can't plan for growth, and you can't know if you're actually profitable. We build the financial infrastructure that lets you run your business with confidence — and ultimately, make more money.

Monthly Bookkeeping

The foundation everything else is built on. Clean, accurate books every month that give you real visibility into your profitability — so every business decision you make is backed by numbers you can trust.

Tax Strategy & Preparation

Year-round tax planning integrated into your financial relationship — not a once-a-year scramble. Estimated taxes, deduction optimization, and strategic filing.

Financial Advisory

This is where reliable books turn into real money. We connect your financial data to actionable decisions — pricing strategy, cash flow planning, and growth moves that directly increase your profitability.

Entity & Structure Guidance

S-Corp elections, entity setup, officer compensation planning. The right structure can save you thousands and protect your business.

Cleanup & Catch-Up

Behind on your books? You can't move forward without a clean starting point. We'll untangle the mess, build a reliable foundation, and get you into a rhythm that keeps your numbers trustworthy.

Compliance & Protection

Sales tax oversight, payroll coordination, IRS notice support. Stay compliant so you can focus on what you do best.

Investment

Invest in your numbers.
Increase your profit.

Each tier is built around your stage of business. Reliable books lead to smarter decisions, and smarter decisions lead to more money in your pocket. The right level depends on your complexity and where you want to go.

Client Experiences

What happens when you
finally know your numbers

"Before working with Trinity Tattoo, I had no idea if I was actually profitable. Now I have clean books, I know exactly what I take home, and I've been able to raise my prices with confidence because I finally understand my real numbers."

Marcus R.
Solo artist, 6 years in business — Austin, TX

"I was leaving thousands on the table every year in self-employment tax because nobody told me about S-Corp elections. Justin caught it immediately and now that money stays in my pocket. The monthly fee paid for itself in the first month."

Dani L.
Owner-operator, 3 artists + booth renters — Portland, OR

"For the first time, I actually know my profit margins, my real costs, and what I need to charge to hit my income goals. Having a CPA who understands tattoo business — cash tips, booth rent, conventions — means I'm finally running this like a real business. And it shows in my bank account."

Chris V.
2 locations, 12 artists — Denver, CO

The founder of Trinity Tattoo — The Tattoo Artist's CPA
About the Founder

I've sat in your chair.
Over 100 hours in it.

I'm Justin Davis — a CPA with over 100 hours under the needle and quickly running out of real estate. I know what it feels like to sit in that chair for six, eight, ten hours. I know the conversations that happen during a session — about slow seasons, about pricing, about whether the shop rent is worth it, about what you're actually taking home at the end of the month.

That time in the chair gave me something most CPAs will never have: a real understanding of what tattoo artists deal with every day. The inconsistent income. The cash-heavy transactions. The booth rent math. The convention expenses. I don't need you to explain your business to me — I've lived it from the other side of the needle.

But understanding your world is only half of it. I'm also a licensed CPA with degrees in accounting, deep experience in tax strategy, bookkeeping, and financial advisory — and I've built this entire firm around one industry: yours. You get someone who's both fully qualified and genuinely relatable. That combination is rare, and it's exactly why this works.

"I don't just understand the numbers. I understand the life. That's the difference."

Questions

Frequently asked
questions

Yes. I work exclusively with tattoo artists and tattoo shop owners. This isn't a side niche — it's the entire focus of the firm. That specialization means I understand your business model, your pain points, and the financial challenges specific to your industry better than a generalist ever could.

Not necessarily. If you're an established artist generating meaningful revenue ($125k+) and you're serious about getting organized, you're likely a good fit for our Financial Clarity tier. I don't work with hobbyists or very early-stage artists, but if you have real revenue and real ambition, let's talk.

Because without accurate books, you're making every business decision in the dark. What to charge, when to hire, whether to expand — all of it depends on numbers you can actually trust. Without that clarity, you can't know your real profit margins, you can't plan intelligently, and you're leaving money on the table. Clean books aren't just about compliance. They're the foundation that lets you run a more profitable business and actually keep more of what you earn.

Yes — but it's integrated into the ongoing relationship, not sold as a standalone product. When I do your books monthly and plan your taxes throughout the year, your return is essentially done before tax season even starts. No scrambling, no surprises.

That's common, and it's fixable. We handle cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping as a separate one-time project before transitioning you into the monthly rhythm. The cleanup builds the foundation; the ongoing relationship keeps it clean.

Because this isn't commodity tax prep. You're investing in a financial partner whose job is to help you make more money. Year-round financial structure, integrated tax strategy, and operational guidance that directly increases your profitability. The monthly fee pays for itself when you're making better pricing decisions, keeping more of what you earn, and avoiding the expensive mistakes that come from flying blind.

Absolutely. Entity structure and S-Corp elections are a core part of what I do. I'll evaluate whether the switch makes sense for your specific situation, handle the planning, and coordinate the ongoing officer compensation and payroll requirements.

Yes. Worker classification, 1099 compliance, and contractor management are common challenges in tattoo shops. I help you get the structure right so you're not exposed to unnecessary risk.

It means I'm selective about who I work with. The application is a brief step that helps me understand your business and determine if we're a strong fit. This isn't about being exclusive for the sake of it — it's about making sure I can genuinely help you and that the relationship will be productive for both of us.

Yes. The firm is entirely cloud-based. I work with tattoo artists and shop owners nationwide. Everything — bookkeeping, tax, advisory — is handled remotely through secure systems.
